Where will the market take us in 2014?

Happy New Year! I hope you and your loved ones enjoyed the holiday season, and had an opportunity to reflect on the past year while making goals and wishes for the year to come.

We at Wamhoff reflected on 2013, where we saw a market that climbed to record territory in a very straight line up. It was a successful year for our clients, and we worked hard to ensure that portfolios were diversified and rebalanced throughout 2013. Bob_W

Now we look forward to this new year and plan for what 2014 will bring. I believe this will be a good year, but not to the extent that last year was. Alternative investments continue to give us decent returns, and I continue to investigate additional investments that aren’t tied to the market. This may help to keep clients diversified and hedge against any market volatility that may occur.

In terms of the overall economic outlook for 2014, we’re seeing things going in the right direction, in spite of the non-action of Congress. The market has performed well these first couple of days of the year, the unemployment rate continues to fall, and consumer confidence continues to rise.

I’ll continue to watch all of these developments for you, and as always, will review you investments on a regular basis. That’s our job and our commitment to you. We’ll do this and more – going the extra step to make sure you’re taken care of, and always looking long term for you. That means managing your portfolio to help you reach your goals, and finding solutions to keep a portion of your investments liquid without subjecting you to the nearly non-existent interest rates you’d get at the bank. Remember, we believe you’ll live until you’re 95, so that long range vision and planning is important!

We appreciate all of your support in 2013, and are looking forward to another great year together. I’m so fortunate to be able to say that I have close relationships with my clients who I consider to be my friends. We’re grateful for any opportunities to help your friends or family with their investments, so if you like what we’re doing for you, don’t be afraid to shout it from the rooftops!

Please call the office if you would like more information, or have any questions about your investments. We are always here to help.

I wish you and your loved ones a very happy and wonderful 2014. Stay healthy, wealthy and wise, and certainly, stay tuned.
