Wamhoff Financial Planning & Accounting Golf Tournament Raises a Record $118,000
Just Because We Care Nonprofit Benefits Impoverished Families of Honduras
July 8, 2010: ST. CHARLES, MO – As economic conditions continue to worsen in the country of Honduras, local nonprofit, Just Because We Care, set its highest goal yet for its annual golf tournament fundraiser. Their goal this year was to raise $100,000 to help impoverished Honduran families, up from last year’s $90,000 raised. Despite the tough goal, more than 125 golfers and supporters of the organization participated in the golf tournament on June 14 at Bogey Hills Country Club in St. Charles County, and surpassed the goal with a record breaking $118,000. Wamhoff Financial Planning Accounting hosted the golf tournament, dinner and silent auction.
“Helping the families of Honduras is more critical now than ever before,” said company President Bob Wamhoff, co-founder of Just Because We Care. “We are deeply touched that so many local residents have embraced the charity and have opened up their hearts to the people of Honduras. With surpassing our goal, we are able to feed the children in the village we support for an additional day each week. Those children are now guaranteed four days of food each week for the next year.”
Since 2003, when Wamhoff and his wife, Diane, founded the charity after visiting Honduras on a mission trip, the organization has been able to raise enough money to build a vocational school, an elementary school kitchen for a village community and several homes for families in Honduras. Just Because We Care also raises money to provide daily meals, clothing, learning materials and sporting equipment to the students. As a result, students at the school have experienced a dramatic increase in nutrition and academic performance, and for the first time since starting the nonprofit, 22 kids are enrolled in high school with three students set to graduate at the end of this school year.
Wamhoff Financial Planning and Accounting, currently based in Hazelwood, Mo., will fully relocate to St. Charles this August in anticipation of their permanent move to the The Streets of St. Charles, a 250,000-square-foot, mixed-use development at Interstate 70 and Fifth St. in St. Charles. The move is expected to be complete, with Wamhoff fully operational at the site, in 2011.
