Wamhoff History

Bob Wamhoff started Wamhoff Accounting Services in 1975 when he decided there was a better way to provide people with exceptional service, and provide both accounting and financial planning under one roof.  He was an accountant by trade, only 26 years old at the time.  He previously worked as an accountant for St. Louis based Emerson Electric and also worked every tax season as a teacher with H & R Block while attending the University of Missouri St. Louis.  His mother assisted as a bookkeeper and his sister came in after high school and typed the financial statements.  In the beginning, Bob was doing tax returns in people’s homes.  In fact, one of the first tax return was actually prepared on a client’s dryer in the laundry room.  Wamhoff grew the accounting and tax business in North St. Louis County through the 70’s and 80’s, and established the financial planning division in 1990.  In 2008, Wamhoff expanded its operations and opened a new office in St. Charles.  The firm is currently anticipating a permanent move in May 2012 to the Streets of St. Charles, an upscale, mixed use development at I-70 and Fifth Street, where it will occupy over 6,000 square feet of office space.  Wamhoff currently has over $315 Million in assets under management for over 800 clients, and the accounting division prepares over 1100 tax returns each year.
